Step-by-step guides for eSIM Transfer

How do I transfer a SIM/eSIM between two devices?

This process is used when you're transferring a SIM or eSIM from your old phone to a new one that supports eSIM and the SIM/eSIM Transfer feature.

  • If the target phone does not support SIM/eSIM Transfer, the option "Transfer SIM from another phone" will either not appear or will be inactive.
  • Both phones must be connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data and have Bluetooth enabled.
  • You can initiate the eSIM transfer on the new phone immediately after the first setup or later via Settings > SIM Manager (the exact path may vary depending on your phone model).
  • In both cases, simply follow the on-screen instructions on both the new and old phones. The transfer process takes just a few minutes.
  • Once the transfer is complete, the eSIM will be activated on the new phone, and the SIM/eSIM on the old phone will be deactivated and can no longer be used.

To begin the SIM/eSIM transfer, go to the Settings section on your target phone, then navigate to: Settings > Connections > SIM Manager, and select Add eSIM followed by Transfer SIM from another phone.

The exact steps may vary slightly depending on your phone model. Once you initiate the eSIM transfer on the target phone, a prompt will appear on your original phone. You’ll need to confirm the transfer on the original device to proceed.

Once the transfer is initiated, the target phone will display either a numeric code or a QR code.

The verification method depends on the phone manufacturer. If a numeric code is shown, enter it manually on the original phone. If a QR code is displayed, simply scan it using the original phone.

After verification, the target phone will show a list of available SIM cards that can be transferred.

Select the correct SIM from the list. Confirm the transfer first on the target phone, then on the original phone.

The SIM/eSIM will be transferred to the new device within a few moments.

Please be patient — your phone will guide you through the process. If the eSIM does not automatically connect to the network or if calling doesn’t work, try toggling Airplane Mode on and off, or restart the phone.

How do I transfer from a physical SIM to an eSIM on the same phone?

This process is used when you want to switch from a physical SIM card to an eSIM on the same device. Your phone must support the SIM/eSIM Transfer feature.

  • Simply follow the on-screen instructions on your phone — the transfer usually takes just a few minutes.
  • Your phone must be connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data during the process.
  • Once the transfer is complete, the original physical SIM will be deactivated and can no longer be used.

To begin the transfer, go to Settings > Connections > SIM Manager, then select your physical SIM and tap Convert to eSIM.

Your phone will guide you through the process and ask for confirmation to proceed with the conversion.

The transfer may take several minutes — please be patient.

Your phone will keep you informed throughout the process. Once completed, you’ll see a message indicating that the physical SIM has been converted to an eSIM. If the eSIM does not automatically connect to the network or if calling doesn’t work, try turning Airplane Mode on and off, or restart your phone.

Good to know:

  • The transferred eSIM will have PIN protection disabled by default, but you can enable it at any time in your phone’s settings.
  • If the eSIM does not automatically connect to the network after the transfer, we recommend turning Airplane Mode on and off, or toggling the eSIM off and on in the SIM Manager, or simply restarting your phone.
  • You can perform the eSIM transfer both in the Czech Republic and abroad.

Which phones support eSIM Transfer?

Below is a list of phones for which eSIM transfer functionality has been confirmed. This list will continue to grow as manufacturers add support to more models. If your phone is not listed but still offers the eSIM Transfer option, you can go ahead and use it.

Supported Target Phones (phones to which the eSIM is being transferred):

  • Samsung Galaxy S25 / S25 Ultra series
  • Google Pixel 9a

Supported Source Phones (phones from which the SIM/eSIM is being transferred):

  • Samsung Galaxy S25 / S25 Ultra series
  • Google Pixel 6 and newer

I used eSIM Transfer on my new phone, but the transfer was not completed — What should I do?

There may be several reasons why the eSIM transfer was not completed — for example, a Wi-Fi connection interruption or another change currently being made to your phone number. Please follow the instructions we sent you via SMS, or refer to the on-screen messages displayed on your phone.

Your original SIM card remains active on the old phone. The original SIM/eSIM will only be deactivated once the eSIM is successfully installed on the new device.

If the transfer was completed but the new eSIM does not connect to the network or cannot make calls, we recommend turning Airplane Mode on and off, or restarting your phone.

How can I transfer contacts between my old and new phone?

We recommend using one of the following options to transfer your contacts. Availability may vary depending on the features supported by your phone.

  1. Transfer via Google Account – On your old phone, make sure you're signed in to your Google account and that contact sync is enabled. After signing in with the same Google account on your new phone, all synced contacts will appear automatically. You can find more details in Google’s support documentation.
  2. Transfer via Bluetooth – On your old phone, select the contacts you want to transfer, choose the Share option, select Bluetooth, and send them to your new phone. Accept the transfer on the new device.
  3. Transfer using VCF file export/import – On your old phone, use the Contacts app to export your contacts to a vcf file. Then transfer or send this file to your new device and import it again using the Contacts app. This will upload your contacts to the new phone.
  4. Transfer via physical SIM card – On your old phone, use the Contacts app to export contacts to the SIM card. Then insert the SIM into your new phone and use the Contacts app to import them. This method works even if the SIM is no longer active. However, the number of transferable contacts is limited to around 200–250, and additional contact details may not be preserved.
  5. Third-party apps – You can also use apps from phone manufacturers or other developers, such as Samsung Smart SwitchXiaomi Mi MoverContacts Backup & RestoreCloneIt, and others.
