VODAFONE ON ICE - A PLEASANT BREAK FROM THE PRE-CHRISTMAS RUSH

05. December 2005

The Oskar Vodafone skating rink, a major Christmas attraction in the centre of Prague, will be back again this year. The opening will take place on Saturday, December 3, at five o’clock in the evening at the Ovocný trh plaza. The rink will be open to the public from 10 o’clock in the morning until 10 o’clock at night for a total of 29 days, until January 1, 2006. Entry is absolutely free of charge for all visitors. As always the surface area of the rink will be 30 x 14 square metres and there will be an ice-skate rental shop right beside it.

Oskar Vodafone customers will be able to rent skates free of charge, while others will pay merely 30 CZK per hour. Visitors who want to skate but have a bag full of Christmas gifts will be able to keep their goods secure in our new storage area. Another new feature this year is a jukebox that will allow everyone to skate to their favourite tunes.

The rink is also prepared for warmer weather, so there is no threat of a thaw. Thanks to multilayer ice technology, the surface will remain intact and usable in temperatures of up to 15° C.

Those who prefer the warmth of a fireplace at home can watch their friends at play through web cameras at www.vodafonenalede.cz. This address will also feature a photo gallery with pictures by a photographer who will take snaps of everyone who wishes to have their photo taken right at the rink.

“I warmly invite all winter sport enthusiasts to come out and join us on the ice to have a good time with no strings attached, take a break from the pre-Christmas rush, or enjoy an excellent sporting experience in an unusual setting,” says Igor Přerovský, Vice-President of Oskar Vodafone for Branding and Communications. Just like last year, the money received for skate rentals will be donated to charity. Last year, over 12 500 people skated on the Oskar rink in Prague!

The Oskar Vodafone skating rink will also be set up in the Centre of Ostrava in Jiráskovo náměstí. Opening day celebrations in Ostrava will take place on Friday December 2 at 17:00. Last year over 13 800 skaters took to the ice at the Oskar rink in Ostrava. Altogether, we put smiles on the faces of more than 26 000 people in Prague and Ostrava.
