VODAFONE LAUNCHES VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
Today, Vodafone and the Vodafone foundation are launching a volunteer program in which Vodafone will pay its employees for time they spend working for charity and non-profit organisations. Every employee can spend one business day per year working for any project supported by the Vodafone Foundation, or they can do work for any non-profit organisation of their choice. Volunteers will be remunerated in the same manner as if they were working at their desks for their day of work at said non-profit organisation. "On the company intranet, employees have access to a simple application that enables them to select or register the non-profit organisation that they wish to support with their work," says Přemysl Filip, Senior Manager of Social Responsibility, Vodafone, adding, "One of our partners is, for instance, the Czech Union for Nature Conservation, which enables our employees to get involved in projects throughout the Czech Republic." "Vodafone employees also support the projects of our foundation through voluntary monetary gifts known as benefit points, which they could otherwise spend on sporting or cultural events," says Inga Kaškelyte, Director of the Vodafone Foundation.
