Vodafone launches mobile offices for its employees

22. July 2009

Vodafone has launched the Flexi Office program, in which more than thirty employees will be released from the bonds of their particular workspace. They can work in the office where they share their desk with their colleagues or even work from home. By the end of the fiscal year, there should be a total of 200 employees in the program. The goal of the program is to load balance the workspace effectively, while giving employees more flexibility with the help of modern technology. In the Flexi Office program, employees are not evaluated according to hours worked, but according to performance.

35 employees from the Human Resources department at the Vinice office in Prague will take part in the pilot phase.

“The effort is to save twenty percent of all workspaces in the long term. In our experience, one fifth of the desks are unoccupied due to illness, holiday, or meetings. The technology that allows colleagues to be in contact from anywhere is ever more common and accessible. Physical presence no longer plays such an important role,” says Pavla Teplá from the Personnel department at Vodafone.

The Flexi Office program enables employees to find a better balance between their professional and personal lives and the company to save the expenses associated with unoccupied places.

Every employee in the Flexi Office program still has their mobile locker and, of course, a notebook with wireless Internet access and all applications necessary for work. Employees are naturally led to use the least amount of materials during their work, cutting down on printed material among them.
