By the end of this year Vodafone 3G signal will cover 60 cities and towns, including all of the regional capitals. Among the covered cities are: Tábor, Domažlice, Jihlava, Třebíč and Ždár nad Sázavou.

Vodafone uses the latest technology, HSPA (High Speed Packet Access) from Huawei, to operate its 3G network. This enables mobile Internet connection speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps for download and up to 2 Mbps for upload.

Thanks to 3G, customers can surf the Internet on their laptop or mobile phone realistically 10x to 15x faster than with the current EDGE technology. Customers will pay nothing extra for this increase in speed, 3G will be available within the existing data plan.

The ‘Steady Connect’ data tariff, which is ideal for surfing and downloading larger amounts of data, can now be tried out by customers in České Budějovice for free for one month. If they then decide to continue to use the service, they get a practical USB modem for laptop Internet connections for the discounted price of CZK 77.

In addition to offering 3G, Vodafone also offers a 2G network - EDGE, which is now available for more than 95% of the population of the Czech Republic.

In 2002, the company welcomed its millionth customer, and in 2005, it acquired its license for building and operating a 3G-standard network. In that same year, it became part of the world’s leading telecommunications company, Vodafone Group. Today it provides services to over three million business and private customers. The company is also active in the field of corporate responsibility and in 2006 it founded the Vodafone Czech Republic Foundation, through which it has distributed more than 50 million crowns to the non-profit sector.
