Vodafone customers sent over 19 million SMS over the weekend

11. January 2007

Thanks to Vodafone’s Christmas deal, in which all of the operator’s customers can send SMS messages to numbers in the Vodafone network free of charge on weekends, network traffic rose considerably during last weekend. On Saturday January 6 and Sunday January 7, 2007, Vodafone customers sent, in total, three times more SMS messages than they usually do in standard weekend traffic. “Already on the first weekend during which customers could send SMS messages to numbers in the Vodafone network free of charge it has been proven that we hit the bullseye. There is no doubt about the fact that a simple and comprehensible offer that can be used to the fullest suits the needs of our customers the best. The accessibility of this deal is also absolutely ideal for everyone because users do not have to sign any kind of written contract in order to acquire our services,” says Vice-President of Marketing for Vodafone Czech Republic Chris Robbins, adding, “By offering free SMS messages to numbers in the Vodafone network on weekends, we saved our customers nearly 20 million koruna during the first weekend.

All clients who have had an active number in the Vodafone network since January 1, 2007 are able to send SMS messages to numbers in their network free of charge on weekends from January to April 2007. The offer is valid for new as well as all 2.3 million current customers. Service activation occurs automatically.
