Vodafone customers can send SMS messages via ICQ

07. May 2007

As of today, Vodafone, in co-operation with the Atlas.cz portal, is offering customers the opportunity to send SMS messages via ICQ. The service will be active as of May 7, 2007 and will enable all customers to send SMS messages from ICQ to Vodafone numbers free of charge. Vodafone customers can reply to SMS messages sent in this manner for the same price as what the operator charges for sending SMS messages in its own network. The service is currently being offered in a 12-month trial period.

"Co-operation with Internet portals is one of the areas in which we plan on expanding our activities so that we can enable customers to cross the imaginary border between mobile and Internet worlds smoothly," says Chris Robbins, Vice-President of Marketing, adding, "ICQ and SMS messages are among the services that our customers use to a great degree, which is why we decided to make this concept a reality."

"Free SMS delivery is enjoying extraordinary popularity, as can be seen by the number of people using this service through Atlas ICQ," says David Uroň, General Director of Atlas.cz. "By working with Vodafone, we can thus meet the expectations of our users," adds Mr. Duroň.

"ICQ offers users one of the best forms of global communication," says Orey Gillian, General Director of ICQ, adding, "Sending SMS messages is one of the application's most popular functions; therefore, we are pleased that we can offer a similar service to an even broader spectrum of users in the Czech Republic."

In addition to Atlas.cz ICQ, customers can continue sending SMS messages to Vodafone numbers through the operator's web site.

We have already experienced successful co-operation with Atlas.cz while working on the current season of the Daring Dozen, a series about successful businesspeople; Atlas.cz prepared complete Internet communications campaigns for nominated entrepreneurs free of charge.
