Vodafone covers 30% of the Czech population with 3G

Vodafone covers 30 percent of the Czech population with fast 3G mobile Internet. Currently, fast data via 3G technology can be used by customers in 11 regional towns and more than 10 other Czech cities and municipalities. By the end of this year, Vodafone will launch 3G technology in a total of 60 Czech cities. In all places where Vodafone 3G signal is launched, customers can try out mobile Internet for free for a month. "In the construction of high-speed 3G networks, we put our emphasis in each city on covering adjacent areas and fine-tune the network so that we can ensure customers receive the highest quality of voice and data services on offer," says Pavel Kos, Vice-President of Technology at Vodafone.

Vodafone uses the latest technology, HSPA (High Speed Packet Access) from Huawei, to operate its 3G network. This enables mobile Internet connection speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps for download and up to 2 Mbps for upload.

Thanks to 3G, customers can surf the Internet on their laptop or mobile phone realistically 10x to 15x faster than with the current EDGE technology. Customers will pay nothing extra for this increase in speed, 3G will be available within the existing data plan.
