Vodafone Business Zoom: Over 80% of companies will not stop over the Christmas holidays

Four out of five company managers do not plan on taking any time away from their work duties during Christmas week. Ever third is actually willing to take work-related calls during dinner on Christmas Eve. Twelve percent of those surveyed will be in the office during the holidays, 49 percent will be available through email or phone, 16 percent by mobile only, and six percent solely by email. Just 17% of the respondents stated that they don’t even want to see anything work-related over the holidays. These are some of the results from a recent Vodafone Business Zoom survey, in which 417 company managers or owners participated.

Twelve percent of those surveyed will be in the office during the holidays, 49 percent will be available through email or phone, 16 percent by mobile only, and six percent solely by email. These are some of the results from a recent Vodafone Business Zoom survey, in which 417 company managers or owners participated.

Respondents in the special pre-holiday survey answered other questions as well. Here is a summary of the main findings:

Every second firm gives its employees gifts. 14% of companies only give gifts to selected employees. Vodafone customers are the most generous – 61% give gifts to their employees.

Only 14% of companies give gifts to their business partners. Fifty-six percent of firms only give gifts to their biggest partners and clients. The most generous are bigger firms and firms from North Moravia.

Seventy-one percent of firms surveyed throw Christmas parties for their employees. Most of them are bigger companies with headquarters in Prague, the South Bohemia region, or in North Moravia.

Two thirds of the respondents send classic Christmas greetings to their main business partners. 27% of respondents send Christmas greetings in the form of SMS or MMS messages to smaller business partners.

Seventeen percent of company owners or managers get a new mobile for Christmas. These are primarily Vodafone Customers and company owners in South Bohemia. Only 21% of firms have decided to give new mobiles to their employees this year. Most firms only give a certain number of employees mobile phones (19%).

Some more facts about the operators’ customers:

Vodafone customers:
  • Are the most generous to their employees. 73% of firms give them a Christmas gift.
  • Vodafone customers are the most likely to take important work-related calls during dinner on Christmas Eve (45%).
T-Mobile customers:
  • Although they won’t be in the office, they will be available on their mobiles or through email on a non-stop basis, even on Christmas Day (66%).
  • They mostly give greetings to extended family and friends in person. They will also send classic greetings more often than the customers of other operators.
O2 Customers:
  • 71% wouldn’t take important work-related calls during dinner on Christmas Eve, no matter what the situation may be.
  • Most will not show up at the office during the holidays; only 8% will be at work during the holiday week.
