Vodafone awards responsible companies in an business contest
For the third year, Vodafone has supported entrepreneurs and companies through the Vodafone Company of the Year contest. Aside from the existing Vodafone Business Rebel 2010 category, it announced the new Responsible Company of the Year 2010 category. “As per tradition, we’re going to look at all regions in the Czech Republic and award interesting entrepreneurial projects that, in a highly-competitive environment, were a success and may provide an inspiration to others,” says Pavel Hlavinka, Vice-President for Business Customers at Vodafone and adds: “This year’s new addition is the prize for entrepreneurial approach which takes into account the effects of doing business on the environment and supports corporate responsible activities.” The special prize in the Vodafone Business Rebel 2010 category goes to the entrepreneur or company that offers products and services under more advantageous terms for the customer than is usual for the market. Any entrepreneur or company may apply that can briefly tell their story and present how they differentiate themselves from the competition.

The regional rounds will take place in September and October and the winners will be announced at the beginning of December. For the Responsible Company of the Year award, it’s not necessary to fill out any separate form. The questions on which Vodafone will select the winner are part of the application for the Vodafone Company of the Year.
The Vodafone Company of the Year 2010 contest and its categories are announced in all regions of the Czech Republic. Last year, a record 3636 business-people applied for the Vodafone Company of the Year 2009 competition. The winner was an agricultural equipment manufacturer, Farmet from České Skalice, which makes devices for extracting and refining vegetable oils. The special Business Rebel 2009 award went to Jiří Kadlec from Litvínov, owner of a publishing house and operator of the www.KamPoMaturite.cz portal.
