Vodafone and Automaty Servis Selecta launched the first ‘mobilomat’ in the Czech Republic

Vodafone, together with the Automaty Servis Selecta company, launched the first ‘mobilomat’, a soda machine, where you can only pay with a mobile phone through the Premium SMS service. The soda machine is located in Makro in Prague’s Stodůlky area. Along with this machine, there are also hybrid soda machines in the pilot phase where you can pay with both coins and through your mobile.

“We’re trying to bring innovative and unique services to the market where we can help our customers simplify their lives. From the SMS ticket experience in Prague, Liberec, Ostrava and other cities, we know that customers have a lot of interest in paying with their mobiles. Mobile payments at soda machines are yet another area where we’d like to be of service,” says Gorjan Lazarov, Director of Pricing & Products at Vodafone.

“At a time when a mobile phone is a basic accessory for all of us, we see this step toward mobilomats as an inevitable expansion of our services portfolio. As part of the pilot, we’re testing whether mobile payments will be a motivation for customers,” says Milan Duša, Director of Automaty Servis Selecta Czech and Slovak Republics and adds: “In the future, we’d like to have at least 10 mobilomats and 100 hybrid soda machines.”

Hybrid soda machines that accept both Premium SMS and coin payments are located in Sconto in Prague 5 and Prague 9 and in Brno in Hornbach.

Customers from all three operators can pay at the machines with their mobile phones. Vodafone customers, who by a coffee from a mobilomat or hybrid between the 1st and 27th of June, will automatically be entered in a contest to win a Nokia 7230. Technical service is handled by Erika, a.s.
