The Vodafone Czech Republic Foundation pays a professional for a year’s work in the nonprofit sector for the third time

The Vodafone Foundation announces the third year of the original grant program closely linking the commercial and nonprofit sector. The World of Difference Program has permitted a few experts each year from the commercial or public sector to spend a year working for the non-profit organization of their choice. The winner need not worry about losing their standard of living: Vodafone will pay them exactly the same salary they had at their current job. The novelty in the program is the possibility of shorter, 1-3 months' engagements and an interactive web site that connects job seekers with nonprofits seeking program experts.

"This third year of World of Difference is characterized by three major innovations: we launched the www.rokjinak.cz portal that serves as a job exchange, making it possible to work for NGOs for only one to three months and finally we removed the upper limit of candidate wages, so now everyone gets paid exactly as much as they were used to during their time in the business sector," says Inga Kaškelyte, Director of the Vodafone Foundation.

www.rokjinak.cz web portal: The portal connects grant applicants to the needs of Czech NGOs. Experts from the business sector can create a profile, fill in their expertise and experience. The NGO replies with the projects that need help and so both sides of the portal link. This exchange should take place independently of the grant program.

Possibility for a shortened engagement: For the first time, the grant program offers the opportunity to work for nonprofits for only one, two or three months. The classic twelve-month program still continues, but some know-how can now be given by professionals, for whom the twelve-month period is not possible.

The upper wage limit is gone: For successful candidates this year, The Vodafone Foundation will reimburse the full amount of wages that they had in their previous jobs. Vodafone believes that this step in the program could lure senior executives from the commercial sector to the specific experience and expertise required the Czech nonprofit sector.

The program has seen a total of nine winners in the past two years, with applications from over 220 professionals. Most candidates come from the private sector (60%), but there are also applicants from the state sector (17%) and the self-employed (13%). One-tenth of the total of all applications filed last year were from journalists. More than 7000 votes were cast from the public during the last SMS voting for the winner.

The program is open to all applicants regardless of gender, age and qualification profiles, with the exception of those who are currently already working in the non-profit sector. Each candidate may select any non-profit organization work in.

“World of Difference” is the flagship in a series of Vodafone Foundations around the world (eg. Australia, New Zealand, Holland and Ireland).

More information about the program and the registration form are available at www.rokjinak.cz.
