Roaming for a Day to extend to other destinations

04. March 2015

Before summer holidays, Vodafone is going to extend the list of countries where you can use the Roaming for a Day service. For a daily fee, the unique tariff allows customers to call, send SMS and surf the Internet abroad like they would at home. The customers who are still using the old roaming tariffs will be transferred to Roaming for a Day automatically.

For a daily fee of CZK 69, Vodafone Roaming for a Day allows customers to use their home tariff even when abroad. For example, the customers using the unlimited Red LTE tariff can make unlimited calls and send SMS all day round, and surf through up to 100 MB even when travelling. For all this, they will be charged the same amount as if they were at home in the Czech Republic.

The roaming service is available in all countries where Vodafone as the largest global operator offers its services, as well as in other world destinations. At the moment, Roaming for a Day covers 98 per cent of all calls, and after it has been extended to other countries, it is going to cover 66 per cent of all calls outside Europe. The changes made in the bundle do not apply to the customers using the OneNet service.

“Our strategy is to gradually extend the Roaming for a Day service to as many destinations as possible,” says Petr Dvořák, the Vice President for Consumer Customers at Vodafone.

The customers using the Red LTE Premium and Red Premium tariffs will automatically get a 5-day bundle of Roaming for a Day to replace the free minutes and data so far included in their tariffs for use abroad. The bundle will get activated the moment they make a call, send SMS or download data. After using up these five days within one billing period, customers can keep using the bundle for the standard daily fee.

At the same time, Vodafone is simplifying its roaming tariff portfolio. As of April or May, the customers using the Vodafone Passport roaming will be automatically transferred to Roaming for a Day. They will be informed of the change through SMS in time and will be able to cancel or change the tariff if they wish. They can also use the World Roaming tariff with set rates per minute, SMS and data.

Vodafone has also secured better roaming rates for customers travelling to other world destinations, including Turkey, Egypt, USA and Russia, for example. For a daily fee of CZK 199, they will be able to call, send SMS and surf the Internet all day long when abroad as they would at home. As of 27 June 2015, the service will be automatically available to all customers using the Roaming for a Day tariff.
