PRICES FOR CALLING ABROAD TO DROP – THE VODAFONE GROUP ANNOUNCES REDUCTION OF EUROPEAN ROAMING PRICES BY 40%
In the near future, Vodafone customers in the Czech Republic will have the opportunity to take advantage of even better conditions for calling while abroad. The Vodafone Group has committed itself to reducing roaming rates on European markets by an average of up to 40% by April 2007. The reduction will be based on the average roaming prices from last summer. Three months after introducing Vodafone World in the Czech Republic, thanks to which customers received access to a transparent, simplified pricelist and a 15% discount off outbound roaming calls in the framework of Vodafone’s global network and partner networks of Vodafone CR, this undertaking represents yet another initiative the operator has taken in order to create even more attractive offers for business customers and consumers who use their mobile phones while abroad. “Strong international position of the Vodafone Group provides us a unique opportunity to reduce retail prices for calls made while abroad.

“Strong international position of the Vodafone Group provides us a unique opportunity to reduce retail prices for calls made while abroad. In the Czech Republic, customers can also look forward to the Vodafone Passport service which currently saves significant costs for over 6 million subscribers,” says Vodafone CR CEO Grahame Maher.
In addition to its pledge to reduce retail prices for calling from abroad by 40%, the Vodafone Group has also announced that from October 2006, it will offer a reciprocal wholesale agreement with any other European operator at no more than 0.45 EURO per minute. This will support the continuing trend of roaming retail prices reduction, even for customers who use other European networks.
With the Vodafone World service, valid from February 1, 2006, roaming has been simpler and more transparent for customers:
- Only three pricing zones – a uniform price within each zone
- 15% cheaper outbound roaming calls in the framework of Vodafone’s global network and partner networks of Vodafone CR
- A uniform rate for inbound and outbound calls and SMSes
- Flat rate for all calls in the CR
- Notification SMS when roaming on an international operator informing about the rates for inbound and outbound calls and SMS
