Having seen the successful debut of first WAP application created for Oskar by Czech developers and content suppliers, Oskar decided to open its OskarZone partnership programme also to SMS-based services. People and companies with fresh ideas and developing skills will have a chance to offer their SMS projects, games and applications to more than a million of Oskar’s customers and collect an attractive share in revenues.

All the applicants interested in cooperation with Oskar can use the www.oskarzona.cz website as entry point. There they can find further information, necessary documentation, agreement templates and also the registration form. Upon registration and sending their project specification a special Oskar team will assess the project’s qualities and in case of interest it will contact the author with the offer of cooperation.

“Oskar was the first to open a gate to an immense creativity of Czech mobile community,” said Mario Mele, Vice President for Business Planning and Service Development. “Oskar’s customers gain another advantage in the form of new SMS services, while the developers gain a financial reward for their skills and ideas. The better the applications are, the higher revenues they generate.”

Launched in July, OskarZone is the first partnership programme of its kind not only in the Czech Republic, but also in the Central Europe. In no time it helped to discover how huge the creative potential of the Czech public was. A few weeks after launch Oskar registered hundreds of applicants for cooperation and in the beginning of August it was able to launch five WAP services – Organizer, WWWBrno,. Služba.cz, Mojelogo and WAP Chess - in the commercial market. An interactive game “Pick Up Monika”, which you can find in the OskarZone/Mojelogo category on Oskar’s WAP, became an instant hit.

Following on the success of the WAP services, it is expected that the SMS phase will spawn many hit services as well. To ensure the SMS phase of the program is designed to allow developers to create the best applications, Oskar cooperated with Czech company VERO Partners, who provided a developer’s view feedback throughout the preparation of the SMS phase.

Cesky Mobil became the first dual-band (GSM 900/1800) network operator in the Czech Republic after being granted its license in October 1999. It launched commercial operation of its leading edge GSM network on March 1, 2000 under the brand name Oskar. By April 2002 Oskar acquired over 1,000,000 subscribers becoming one of the fastest growing third license operators in Europe! At present, Oskar is the only operator in the Czech Republic to constantly increase its market share.

Through the ClearWave holding, Český Mobil a.s. is a member of the telecommunications group of Canadian-based Telesystem International Wireless (TIW). The Company's shares are listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange ("TIW") and NASDAQ ("TIWI").
