Thank God it’s Monday again. When I woke up this morning I couldn’t help feeling a little annoyed with myself. I’m planning to go for a hike today but I forgot to watch the weather forecast last night. Luckily, I have Oskar’s WAP so I can I find out about today’s weather conditions immediately. Clear sky and sunshine are forecast. And what about tomorrow’s weather ? It says it’s going to be nice then, too. OK, I don’t need to check the forecast on the Internet then.
As I was looking at the other features available on the WAP, I also checked the departure time of my train to Brno. I’m going to pick up my friend Karla. She’s from Canada. At first I was afraid that we wouldn’t understand each other, but when I discovered an English dictionary on Oskar’s WAP, my concerns disappeared. The dictionary is really big, so I’ll be able to translate every single word. Now, I still have no idea where we’ll go tonight. No problem, I’ll just have a look at the cinema guide on the WAP. We’ll go to a movie tonight. At least, I hope we will. Karla may not want to. She may prefer to watch TV. Let’s see what’s on – click on entertainment, teletext and there I go. Great! I’ve got a TV guide in my hand. Fantastic! Oskar’s WAP is terrific! I guess I should also check the results of yesterday’s basketball game. Great!
It’s high time I went to pick up Karla, but I can still manage to recharge my Oskarta account in the meantime. Let’s get my call history – how long did I speak to David and Mirek last night and how much did it cost me?
Better make sure of the time Karla is leaving. Actually, it doesn’t matter. Information, timetables, flight schedules – I have all of this on me all the time.
But I won’t let Karla leave too soon. You know, it just crossed my mind that I should check whether our signs match. What sign is Karla anyway?
Oskar’s WAP service was introduced at Invex, the international information and communication fair. Oskar’s WAP is being launched on the market only 7 months after Oskar’s commercial launch in March 2000. Oskar’s subscribers can start using Oskar’s WAP as of October 30, 2000.
Oskar’s WAP services include news and entertainment, travel, sports, and culture information as well as other interesting applications, mainly designed to make Oskar’s subscribers’ lives as easy and comfortable as possible. Oskar’s WAP also offers the unique function to fully administrate pre-paid Oskarta vouchers. This service allows Oskarta users to control their account balance, call history and a variety of other areas. It’s user friendly and easy to understand. Oskar’s WAP is suitable for everyone.
“The future of mobile communications is in data transmission. Oskar’s WAP is the entrance to the world of the next generation of mobile services and another step forward in the field of information services – ranging from news to entertainment. The WAP platform is prepared for integration with the technologies of a new generation, so that the capabilities of high-speed data transmission could create space for launching new applications,” says Igor Přerovský, Český Mobil’s spokesperson.
Oskar’s WAP is available to both Oskar’s subscribers and customers of other mobile operators, provided they have Oskar’s data services activated.
Český Mobil a.s. became the third mobile network operator in the Czech Republic after being granted a GSM 900/1800 dual band license by the Czech government in October 1999 and launched commercial operations on March 1, 2000 under the brand name Oskar. As of August 2, Oskar had 100.000 subscribers. The Oskar network covers over 90% of the Czech population and over 99% of the main highways in the country.
