OSKAR’S CUSTOMERS CAN NOW SURF THE NET WITH NO LIMITS. . . AND NO WORRIES!

01. March 2005

Oskar is now offering an unlimited data option for all Oskar tariff customers and introduces EDGE technology allowing fast Internet access. The new Connect Steady data tariff is designed for customers who want to enjoy the benefits of unlimited mobile access to Internet and still pay a maximum of CZK 800 (CZK 952 including 19% VAT) monthly. But Oskar also took into consideration that customers might occasionally wish to have a break from data services for a while (such as during holidays). To help those customers, Oskar came up with a unique sliding price structure for data services. For downloading data from 0 MB up to 10 MB, surfers will pay a monthly tariff of CZK 200 (CZK 238 including 19% VAT).

Above the maximum threshold of 70 MB for which Oskar charges CZK 800 (CZK 952 including 19% VAT), data can be downloaded without limitations and free of any further fees.

“Today we are rounding out our new NoWorries service for our business customers. Launching the unlimited Internet access and new EDGE technology enhances our service portfolio for this customer group,” says Marek Sláčík, director of customer programs.

In order for all customers to be able to use the unlimited data services as efficiently as possible, Oskar is simultaneously launching EDGE technology. EDGE works on the same interface as GPRS technology, so that it is possible to move from one technology to another while surfing, without breaking the connection. EDGE is on average 3 times faster than GPRS. During Oskar’s testing operation the speed in laboratory conditions reached a record value of 234kb/sec. The operator estimates that the real speed of data transfer under normal operation will reach 90 – 110kb/sec. Using this technology, a user can, for example, download the song We Are The Champions in MP3 into his mobile phone in only three and half minutes.

“We are launching EDGE data technology in Prague, where we are going to cover 80% of the population, and in Brno where we are going to cover 60% of the population. In the future we of course plan to extend coverage offered by this technology. Priority will depend on the customer’s needs in each location,” says Marek Sláčík.

Oskar also prepared an easy-to-use solution to maximize the benefits to the customers and delivers an application that will help to connect to Internet and set up handsets and PCs. The application is compatible with desktop computers, laptops and mobile phones. Customers will get it for free in Oskar shops on CD or they can download it from www.oskar.cz.

A second data tariff called Connect Casual will be of interest to those Oskar customers who do not want to pay monthly flat fees but still want to connect to the Internet via a mobile phone. These customers will pay only for actual units of data transferred. A user with this tariff will pay CZK 0.40 (CZK 0,476 including 19% VAT) for 1 kB of data transferred via WAP. Downloading from the Internet 1 kB costs CZK 0.05 (CZK 0,056 including 19% VAT).

Both tariffs Connect Steady and Connect Casual are designed for all business and consumer customers with Oskar tariffs. New and existing Oskar customers can activate them for free.

Customers wanting to try data tariffs Connect Steady and Connect Casual can activate them by calling OskarKontakt lines 800 77 77 77 or 800 77 77 00. Current customers can activate this service on all Oskar self-care channels.

More information on Oskar data services or the EDGE technology is available at www.oskar.cz.
