Create and send your own multimedia messages – MMS. Get detailed weather forecasts for the weekend or watch radar shots of clouds moving across the country. Be up-to-date with the developments in ice hockey star Jaromir Jagr’s career. From today as a customer of Oskar you can do all this plus a lot more. The mobile provider has launched three MMS services at the same time: PhotoMail MMS, MMS Studio and MMS Magazine.

The PhotoMail MMS service allows users to send photos, sounds, animations and long texts to MMS enabled handsets over the Internet. MMS Studio is an Internet editor and a storage place for multimedia messages. MMS Magazine allows you to order news or entertainment. “There is a choice of 70 service categories, some of which are only available exclusively at Oskar,“ says Igor Prerovsky, Vice President Brand & Communications at Oskar.

Oskar’s customers have the option to test the MMS service free of charge. Existing customers can order the My MMS package, allowing them to enjoy 10 free MMSs every month for 3 months. In addition, anyone who activates PhotoMail service will receive 1 free multimedia message from the MMS Magazine daily. New customers will find My MMS in Oskar’s Shopping Basket. Depending on their tariff, the customer will be able to send 10 free multimedia messages every month, for up to a year. As part of the MMS launch, Oskar introduces its offer of reduced price MMS handsets. “For instance, Sony Ericsson T610 will now be available for 5,577 Kc and Nokia 6100 for only 4,977 Kc,“ Prerovsky explains.

“Oskar is coming up with a comprehensive MMS offer combining affordable MMS handsets and easy-to-use services. For instance, all it takes to set up your phone for MMS is a single SMS or five mouse clicks on www.oskar.cz,“ says Prerovsky. Oskar has a team of specially trained OskarDataLinka representatives dedicated to dealing with any problems that customers may encounter while using MMS formats. In addition, customers can continue to seek online support from the Technoids at www.oskarena.cz who have been testing Oskar’s MMS services for a month and a half.

How do Oskar’s MMS services work?

PhotoMail allows MMS to be sent from one handset to another. Messages can be sent into all national mobile networks. A recipient who does not have an MMS enabled handset will receive an SMS with a code allowing him to pick up the MMS later at the mobile provider’s web sites. Every MMS sent is charged at 9.50 Kc plus VAT.

As usual with Oskar, PhotoMail activation is very easy. All the customer needs to do is compose an SMS with the short code MMS A XXXX (XXXX stands for the customer’s Internet Self-Care entry code) and send it to 7700 or call Voice Self-Care at *077. The most convenient way to activate the service is to visit www.oskar.cz. This is where the customer can request a binary SMS, enabling him to set up his handsets for incoming and outgoing MMSs automatically without having to make complicated menu adjustments.

MMS Studio is an interesting assistant tool for creating multimedia messages composed of pictures, animations, sounds and long texts. The customer can choose from pre-defined galleries or use his own sounds and pictures. Oskar‘s MMS Studio offers 5 MB of storage space for MMS archiving – a lot more than what’s offered with similar services provided by Oskar’s competitors. A customer who wishes to send a message from the web will not be charged for every single picture or piece of sound sent. The customer can use various components to create messages up to 100 KB in size, which are billed as a single MMS. There is a monthly fee of 40 Kc for MMS Studio service. Every MMS sent from a handset to the MMS Studio box is charged at 2 Kc plus VAT.

MMS Magazine offers news on latest events as well as lots of other interesting information. The customer can choose from 70 message categories, ranging from regular news digest (News section), spots events (Sport), radar shots showing rainfall situation (Weather), Blesk newspapers’ Girl of the Day (Erotica), jokes (Entertainment), curiosities (Curiosities) to recipes for food and drinks (Practical). The services can be ordered using SMS short codes. However, a customer who doesn’t know them can use Oskar’s Internet Self-Care. The billing for MMS Magazine messages varies by content.

Some of the message categories available in the MMS Magazine are offered exclusively by Oskar and are not provided by other competitive operators. These include the aforementioned radar shots of rainfall situation including rainfall movement direction (highly appreciated by cyclists and balloon pilots), weekend weather forecasts, news on Czech football players in European leagues and Czech ice hockey players in the NHL. Of special interest is the daily news on Jaromír Jágr, the world’s best ice hockey player.
