One year after its launch, online Vodafone credit recharging in shops enjoys massive popularity

05. December 2007

More and more Vodafone customers are taking advantage of the opportunity to recharge their online credit at retail shops. In the first year since the GP mobile recharge service was launched in a shop, Vodafone customers have made over ninety thousand recharging transactions. The number of transactions has been growing rapidly every month; from May to November alone it has doubled. The number of shops where customers can recharge their credit has also grown considerably. “At the end of November 2006, Globus hypermarkets were the first shops where customers could recharge credit.

These were gradually followed by Rossmann chemists, Electro World specialized shops, and Billa supermarkets. At present, the service is being implemented in supermarkets in the former Delvita network, which consists of over 250 shops,” says Miloš Jun, who is in charge of this project.

Vodafone is also providing its customers with the opportunity to recharge credit in retail chains and other retail outlets in co-operation with global Payments Europe.

Jiří Hollan, Marketing Director of Global Payments Europe says, “Our GP mobile recharging service is now available at around two thousand payment terminals. In addition to retail chains, this autumn we also started offering it at small shops. Through GP mobile, customers of all three operators can recharge credit for their mobile phones. So far, they have recharged credit worth over CZK 100 million.”

An updated list of all shops at which customers can recharge their Vodafone Wild Cards is available through Vodafone’s online coverage maps at http://www.vodafone.cz/consumer/switch/network/check/map.htm
