Enjoy ICQ directly on your mobile

26. November 2007

Vodafone is launching the Pokec service, with which Vodafone live! portal users will have the opportunity to access three chat services – ICQ, MSN Messenger, and Yahoo Messenger – on their mobiles. Two months after launching the service, customers can use the service absolutely free of charge. “After the successful launch of mobile access to Internet portals Seznam.cz and Atlas.cz, we are further expanding our services so that we can enable customers to fully cross over the notional boundary between mobile and Internet worlds,” says David Duroň, Director of Marketing for Private Customers, adding, “Chat services are very popular among our customers; therefore, we decided to provide them with unlimited access to these services through mobile phones.

“After the successful launch of mobile access to Internet portals Seznam.cz and Atlas.cz, we are further expanding our services so that we can enable customers to fully cross over the notional boundary between mobile and Internet worlds,” says David Duroň, Director of Marketing for Private Customers, adding, “Chat services are very popular among our customers; therefore, we decided to provide them with unlimited access to these services through mobile phones.”

The service provides the customer with convenient mobile access to their chat service; that is, to their existing chat accounts, which they normally use through the Internet.

Customers whose phones have WAP and GPRS support, which most phones in the Vodafone portfolio do, will find the chat service in the main menu of the Vodafone live! portal. It is not necessary to activate the service, it is automatically accessible.

Until January 23, 2008, customers can use the service absolutely free of charge. Afterwards, the customer pays according to their selected prepaid period: 1 day = CZK 7, 1 week = CZK 30, and 1 month = CZK 45, including VAT. Upon paying for one prepaid period, the customer then gains access to all three services: ICQ, MSN Messenger, and Yahoo Messenger.

Browsing the Vodafone live! portal is absolutely free of charge.

Benefits for customers:
  • Convenient mobile access to existing chat accounts on ICQ, Yahoo, and MSN
  • Simplicity – customers don’t have to download anything, everything is prepared for usage, simply click on the appropriate link on the Vodafone live! portal
  • Familiar environment – standard functions that customers know from their PC are accessible on mobile phones
  • Service displayed in a format that is suited to mobile phones
  • Transparent payment – a fixed fee for access, the price is clearly displayed to customers prior to use of the service + customers will not be charged more for transferred data
