Cesky Mobil and Cesky Telecom have signed an interconnection agreement

07. January 2000

Ceský Mobil and Ceský Telecom representatives today signed an agreement of interconnection of the two networks. The conclusion of the agreement follows months of complex and exhaustive work by both companies' technical and commercial teams. "Both of our organizations worked diligently and effectively to finalize the details of this agreement and we are satisfied with the results" commented Robert Tasse, Ceský Mobil's Chief Financial Officer. The negotiations between the two companies commenced shortly after a GSM 1800 license was awarded to Cesky Mobil on October 8, 1999. The technical testing was successfully completed before Christmas and since then, negotiations have focussed on the commercial aspects.

"Ceský Mobil will be another important customer of ours. We consider the interconnect agreement to be another step in the ongoing development of the competitive environment in the Czech Republic and we expect it to contribute to the improvement of the services provided to our customers and all other users of telephone networks," Petr Slovácek, CESKÝ TELECOM's network vice president, commented on the conclusion of the agreement.

The agreement will enable Ceský Mobil customers to call all Ceský Telecom's network users, including those connected to local networks (e.g. Dattel in Prague, Kabel Plus in Liberec etc.) and vice versa. Also connections with all international networks that Ceský Telecom has agreements with will be possible. In addition, calling to and from the two GSM 900 operators, RadioMobil and Eurotel and Cesky Mobil is also operational.
