Balesh Sharma to replace Muriel Anton as CEO Vodafone Czech Republic

24. September 2013

From 1 November, Balesh Sharma will be appointed the new CEO of Vodafone Czech Republic. Sharma will replace the current CEO Muriel Anton who will continue to support him during the transition period thru the end of the year. Balesh Sharma was CEO Vodafone Malta.

Balesh joined Vodafone in 2003. He held various leadership positions with Vodafone in India prior to his current role. His earlier assignments included successful stints with BPL Mobile, Xerox & Ricoh.

Since February 2011 Balesh has been CEO in Malta where he has driven net promoter score leadership, grown market share from 47% to over 50% and delivered revenue growth of 8.5% last year despite stiff competition from two quad-play operators.

Muriel Anton has been CEO of Vodafone Czech Republic since 2008. She joined Vodafone (then Oskar) as Vice President for Finance in 2000. As a member of the company’s top management team she was influential in the launch of the third mobile operator in the Czech market, its rise as one of the fastest growing third operators in Europe as well as its successful sale to Vodafone Group. Prior to joining Oskar/Vodafone Muriel held various directorial positions in financial planning and analysis in a leading Canadian telecommunications company TELUS Corporation.
