Vodafone launched the project "We're the same blood group" in 2010 on the occasion of its tenth birthday and decided within this non-traditional celebration to promote unpaid blood donation. First, blood was donated by hundreds of employees, including CEO Muriel Anton and representatives of their suppliers. Later Vodafone, through a nationwide blood donation campaign in the media, promoted the establishment of www.darujem.cz - a site where people can find information about donation locations, educational videos and interesting facts about donation.
Vodafone, through its campaign to promote donation, collaborated with blood donation stations throughout the Czech Republic, organized a road show in several cities in the CR and promoted the topic through social networks. Thanks to that, they managed to get several thousand first time donors and the project achieved more than 40% awareness among the Czech population.
The award for Health and Safe Environment was accepted this afternoon by Monika Hovorková, Vice-President of Brand and Communications at Vodafone.
The prize is open to organizations that actively contribute to improving the living and working environments in their own surroundings as well as in the widest possible area, whether it's a business, an NGO or a public institution. Submitted projects are evaluated by a committee of prominent experts led by professor RNDr. Bedřich Moldan, CSc. and Director of the Center for Environmental Questions UK. The winning projects are nominated to the international competition of the European Business Awards for the Environment.
