Vodafone was the first large company to earn the prestigious Ecobrand

Vodafone is the first large company in the Czech Republic to win an Ecobrand for ecological conservationism in the administrative operation of its Prague headquarters. Environment Minister, Rut Bízková, officially confirmed this with her signature when the Ecobrands were awarded on May. “Vodafone is the first large company in the Czech Republic that can boast an Ecobrand for Ecology-saving services. It’s the natural result of the company’s long-term corporate responsible behavior,” said Rut Bízková, Minister of the Environment of the Czech Republic. “Along with a public commitment to reduce CO2 emissions by fifty percent by the year 2020, the use of hybrid cars and more than one-third of our electricity coming from renewable sources, the Ecobrand is yet another step toward our becoming the greenest large company in the Czech Republic,” says Přemysl Filip, Senior Manager for Corporate Responsibility at Vodafone.

The company fulfilled the criteria for an Ecobrand in the running of its office and administrative spaces in the following areas especially:

  • • Restricted energy and water use • Reduced waste production • The use of renewable resources • Influencing its own surroundings through environmentally sound behavior • Social responsibility

Among other things, Vodafone reached a minimum of an 80% share of its lighting in energy class A, it prints on recycled paper and prefers electronic document handling, it implemented the following cost-cutting regime in its offices, it doesn’t use single-use items and uses environmentally-safe cleaning products and approaches. It also prefers to buy products with the Ecobrand, employees have a nice space to keep their bikes for riding to work, etc.

Vodafone Czech Republic is also the first company in the Vodafone Group to win such a certification. The Ecobrand is one of the certifications recognized throughout Europe.
