Vodafone Was Ranked the Most Socially Accountable Company in the World

Vodafone Group has been ranked number one in this year’s global Accountability Rating, which measures the level of company social accountability, by the international agency AccountAbility (http://www.accountabilityrating.com). “We are happy that the activities and the projects of the Vodafone Foundation Czech Republic have contributed to the prestige of the Vodafone Group in the field of corporate social responsibility”, claims Grahame Maher, the CEO of Vodafone ČR. “This year the Vodafone ČR Foundation backed projects supporting young people by contributing more than 14 million crowns.

AccountAbility rated 50 of the largest companies in the world (according to a list created by the Fortune Global magazine) according to three criteria:

  • Volume of funds invested towards charitable and socially beneficial projects
  • The involvement of employees, management, customers and suppliers in the company’s socially beneficial projects
  • The integration and management of socially beneficial projects within the company’s business strategy.

The Vodafone Foundation was founded in April 2006 and is an independent charitable organization registered with the government. The foundation receives grants from Vodafone Czech Republic as well as from the Vodafone Group Foundation (VGF). VGF is responsible for the global coordination of projects being implemented by the local foundation within the international network as well as mediating good practices applied when investing in a large scale of social projects. www.nadacevodafone.cz
