Vodafone will reestablish standard data volumes to customers

15. January 2015

n the past two months, all Vodafone customers could try the mobile Intenet without any data limits. The Christmas offer will have finished by today's midnight. From tomorrow, the customers will be able to use the whole of their data volume

For two months, the customers using the Data Beyond the Package service could test the mobile Internet without any constraints on data. The special Christmas event ends today; Vodafone will reestablish the standard data volumes to customers tomorrow. Customers will thus be able to use the whole of their data tariff again.

"In December, we registered a more than 300 per cent year-on-year increase in data transfers. The demand for mobile data is constantly growing," says Petr Dvořák, the Vice President for Retail Customers at Vodafone. "When the offer ends, we will reestablish the full data volume to customers, which they will be able to use until the end of their billing period," he adds.

The success of the Christmas offer

There were even some customers whose data transfers exceeded 1 TB. The peak in the use of data came on the 4th January 2015, that is in the last but one week of the event. The Internet users were most active in the evening, between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. As for the regions, the users were most active in Prague and the regions of Central Bohemia, South Moravia and Ústí nad Labem.

The Christmas event also allowed Vodafone to test the quality and reliability of its network and check that customers can use the Turbo Internet in almost the whole Czech Republic. At the same time, Vodafone continues the construction of the LTE network, the use of which requires a special LTE SIM card, which is available to customers free of charge.

LTE phones under the Christmas tree

It is also interesting to mention some figures from Vodafone sales before Christmas. More than 71 per cent of sold devices support fast LTE access. The bestselling device is the new iPhone6, the second is the water-proof smartphone Sony Xperia M2 Aqua, which is available exclusively at Vodafone. The Android-operated devices are still at the top of the market, with an almost 80 per cent market share.
