Vodafone supports recycling, gives new mobiles for old ones

02. March 2009

From today, Vodafone customers who hand in their old phones, including batteries, will get a new Vodafone 225 handset for the symbolic price of one crown. This offer will last until a supply of 1,000 units is sold out. Another 100 units are being given away for free to the customers who are fastest to send their old mobiles by post. Customers who don’t have a Vodafone sales point near their homes, or who cannot visit one for any reason, can send their old phones by post. “They can simply send in their complete old handsets in the ready-printed recycling envelope that is included with the March issue of ČILICHILI magazine, and we will send new mobiles free of charge to the first hundred customers to do so,” says Přemysl Filip, Senior Manager of Corporate Responsibility, Vodafone.

The complete phone, including the battery, does not have to be functional, but its condition must correspond with regular depreciation. The event is valid for new and existing Vodafone customers.

Vodafone ensures the long-term ecological recycling of every mobile, accessory, and battery that customers turn in at their local sales points, regardless of where they purchased them. For every recycled handset, the Vodafone Foundation receives an average of three Euros. The Vodafone Foundation distributes this money to projects that aim to protect and improve the environment.
