Vodafone launches the most powerful 3G in more than 40 cities

26. September 2012

Vodafone has recently installed 3G transmitters in 44 cities with HSPA + Dual Carrier 42 Mbps. While current technology allows you to reach theoretical speeds of up to 21 megabits per second, this new generation is twice as fast. Under normal conditions, customers will have access to speeds of around 30 megabits per second. Vodafone customers can use these quality data connection services from the 5th of October on the iPhone 5 or Nokia Lumia 900 for example. The launch of HSPA + DC is in preparation for the construction of LTE networks.

"With the installation of HSPA + Dual Carrier 42 Mbps we will greatly increase the capacity of the network, and therefore increase real speed data transfers to customers in these communities," says George Švarc, director of network development at Vodafone, adding: "The availability of this technology is in preparation for the fourth generation LTE network - now we want to give our customers in many places in the country the option in real operation to try higher speeds than in the normal 3G world."

Vodafone launched HSPA + Dual Carrier 42 Mbps technology in trial operation in January in Beroun and in July in Karlový Vary. The testing was successful, so Vodafone decided to extend this technology to other places.

A real speed of 30 megabits per second can be achieved with the Vodafone K4605 USB modem that Vodafone will have in its portfolio from the 1st of November. Customers can purchase it for the standard price of 2 177 CZK, with a minimum monthly spend of 477 CZK and will only pay 977 CZK for the USB modem.

Third-generation data services from Vodafone are already within reach of more than 7 million people and a top speed within the HSPA + DC technology can be used by all Vodafone customers regardless of their tariff.
