Vodafone offers unique employee benefits to parents

09. March 2015

As of 1 April, Vodafone is going to offer unique employee benefits. The employees on maternity leave will be paid the difference between their usual salary and maternity allowance. They will be also able to work shorter working hours in the six months following their return to work.

“A baby brings a radical change to your life, which may be very demanding. We want to make that change easier for our employees,” says Daniela Hylmarová, the HR Director at Vodafone. “Combining family life and career is not easy today, not only as far as money is concerned,” she adds.

The new benefits will suit those parents who want to return to work quickly. When returning after the six-month maternity leave, they will be able to work shorter working hours, that is 30 hours a week. Cutting their working hours will have no effect on their salary as it will be paid in full. Moreover, in the six months following their return to work, Vodafone will pay them the difference between their standard salary and the maternity allowance which they received in the first 16 weeks of maternity leave. Fathers will get five more days off when their baby is born.

Employee benefits are a very important part of Vodafone’s HR strategy. Parents as well as all other employees whose job description allows it can take advantage of the Flexi Office program, which enables them to work from anywhere, not only from the office. This program helps the employees to combine their personal life and career, no matter whether they have kids or not.

All the above-mentioned benefits are now being introduced by the Vodafone Group across the world. On that occasion, the Group has also published a video concerning the issue of combining family life and career.

At the same time, Vodafone extended its benefit portfolio with life insurance and permanent disability insurance. The insurance is valid 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and all around the world. It can be also used to cover mortgage.
