Vodafone on Ice – skate in the centres of Prague and Ostrava

28. November 2006

The Vodafone Skating Rink – an inherent Christmas attraction in the centre of Prague – will be up and running once again this year. We are opening the rink on December 2, 2006 at 17:00 in Ovocný trh (the Fruit Market). It will be open to the public for skating every day from 10:00 to 21:30 until January 1, 2007. Entry to the rink is absolutely free for all visitors. The dimensions of the rink remain the same – 30 x 14 m2.

Entry to the rink is absolutely free for all visitors.

The dimensions of the rink remain the same – 30 x 14 m2. Entry to the rink is free for all visitors and ice-skate rental is free for Vodafone customers; for others the rental fee is CZK 30 per hour. Just like last year, the skate rental booth will be located right by the rink. There will also be a cloakroom and jukebox, where rink visitors will be able to listen to their favourite songs. A new feature this year will be a Christmas tree directly in the middle of the rink, further evoking a Christmas atmosphere.

Even if, by chance, the weather isn’t very cold this year and the temperature stays above zero, the rink will still be open for skating. Thanks to multilayer ice technology, the surface will remain solid in temperatures of up to 10°C.

They rink will also be a source of amusement for people who do not indulge in this sport. Through webcams and online transmission, they can watch their friends skating at www.darekprokazdeho.cz/kluziste. On the same pages there will be a photo gallery containing shots taken by a photographer at the request of rink visitors.

With the help of the Vodafone Foundation, proceeds from skate rentals will be redistributed to charities, specifically to support selected low-threshold clubs located in Prague and Ostrava.

Last year around 11 thousand people skated on the rink in Ovocný trh in Prague.

The Vodafone Skating Rink will also be set up in Ostrava on Jiráskovo náměstí. It will open on December 1, 2006, at 17:00, and it will be open every day from 9:00 to 21:00 until January 1, 2007. Last year over 12 thousand visitors skated on the Vodafone Skating Rink in Ostrava. Together with the rink in Prague over 23 thousand people enjoyed Christmas skating in the centre!
