Vodafone offers the first self-charging Samsung eco-mobile made of recycled materials

27. November 2009

From December 1, Vodafone is exclusively offering the first ecological mobile: the Samsung S7550 Blue Earth. The phone is constructed of recycled materials and, thanks to solar panels on the rear, it can provide itself with energy for operation. “The Samsung Blue Earth is the first eco-mobile on the market. The case is constructed of recycled plastic bottles and does not contain any hazardous chemicals like phthalates, brominated flame retardants, or beryllium,” says Přemysl Filip, Senior Manager of Social Responsibility, Vodafone, adding, “The phone comes with an energy-saving charger, which does not have to be used that often in sunny weather thanks to solar panels on the case.” The handset also boasts a special ecological menu.

The handset also boasts a special ecological menu. In it the user can find functions that, for instance, measures CO2 reductions through walking compared to using modes of transportation. It also features energy-saving modes for display settings and other handset functions that save energy.

Samsung Blue Earth S7550 – the first ecological mobile phone:

  • has a case made of recycled plastic bottles
  • has solar panels on the rear that save energy during operation
  • includes a highly energy-saving charger
  • features a special ecological menu

The new ecological Samsung also offers the latest functions and a large touch screen display.

Vodafone is making an effort to offer customers handsets that save the most energy and make the least impact on the environment. In addition to the ecological Samsung Blue Earth, Vodafone has been offering the most energy-saving Nokia mobile on the Czech market, the 6730 Classic, since the middle of this year.

The Samsung S7550 Blue Earth will be available exclusively from Vodafone for the standard price of CZK 7,777 from December 1. With the Loaded 350 tariff, the handset will be available for CZK 5,977.
