Vodafone launches modern data and logistics centre

24. September 2010

Vodafone has opened a new data and logistics centre in Středokluky in Prague. The data centre includes the most modern, even within the Vodafone Group, mobile exchange with 3G support. This technology is currently accessible to over 30 percent of the population of the Czech Republic. With the use of its new technological facility, Vodafone is also making a significant contribution to the reduction of electric energy consumption, and is thus successfully continuing to fulfil its obligation to cut its CO2 emissions in half by 2020. “By opening this new technological facility, we are reacting to our customers’ growing needs in terms of mobile and data services.

“By opening this new technological facility, we are reacting to our customers’ growing needs in terms of mobile and data services. In the new infrastructure, we are, for instance, using environmental monitoring, energy-saving cooling units, powerful, highly energy-efficient modules, and inert gases for extinguishing fires,” said David Voráček, Senior Manager of Facilities, Vodafone, adding, “Social responsibility is a high priority for us; therefore, all of our technological centres are powered by renewable resources.”

The technological facility was built completely redundantly in TIER IV architecture on a property of nearly 1,000 square meters and meets the strictest operational and safety requirements for infrastructures.
