Vodafone launched a new SMS advertising channel

Vodafone successfully launched a new SMS advertising channel, widening its mobile advertising product portfolio. The SMS Call Back service, which is free for all customers, is already used by 85 thousand customers. “In the first 5 months of the pilot, the new SMS service has met with great success on both the customer and advertiser sides. We completed the first three campaigns, in which each of them reached 50 to 60 thousand customers. We put ads into 250 to 300 thousand Call Back SMS,” affirmed Tomáš Mátl, head of the Media Solutions department at Vodafone Czech Republic and adds: “According to our survey, advertisers are satisfied with the new channel; they like it especially for its effectiveness and the possibility of direct interaction between the advertiser and the customer.

Call Back SMS service:

  • Vodafone launched the pilot program at the beginning of this year
  • the service is available to all Vodafone customers
  • 85 thousand customers use this service each month
  • customers send almost 1 million SMS per month
  • SMS can be sent to all networks in the Czech Republic

Customers can use the SMS Call Back service when:

  • they need to contact those close to them
  • they can’t call or send an SMS from their mobile phone because, for example, outgoing calls and SMS are blocked
  • they are out of credit on their prepaid card
To send a free Call Back SMS, you just have to enter the following code:
*101*telephone number without spaces#,
and the recipient will get the following message:
“You were sent a Call Back message from xxxxxxxxx, they’d like to hear from you. So call them back. Have a good day. Vodafone.”
The customer who used the service receives a delivery report, which says:
“The Call Back message was successfully delivered. Vodafone.”

The Media Solutions department works on the development of advertising products that combine all media Vodafone has at its disposal. It doesn’t want to be considered as only an owner of advertising space, but also to work together on the graphic content of the campaign or enable customers to buy products directly in a given campaign, for example.
