Vodafone introduces Internet gadgets in the Google AdSense network

Vodafone is the first mobile operator in the Czech Republic to introduce Google AdSense gadgets as part of its Internet campaign. Vodafone wants to promote its new product, the Vodafone Loaded Card, with gadgets in the form of a pre-paid card calculator placed on Google content sites. “A flexible, unique and innovative product demands the same kind of flexible, unique and innovative introduction to the market. For that reason, we chose Google AdSense gadgets, which give us the opportunity to include our message interactively and place it on servers where we would normally not have a presence,” says David Duroň, Consumer Marketing Director at Vodafone Czech Republic and adds, “Our cooperation with Google Czech Republic is yet a further step in Vodafone’s expansion on the Internet.” “We decided on the Google PPC gadgets business model also because of their advantageous pay-per-click system.

“We decided on the Google PPC gadgets business model also because of their advantageous pay-per-click system. This system allows us to more effectively inform our customers in cyberspace about our products and services,” says Vodafone’s Interactive Marketing Manager, Eva Štípková, and adds, “Together with our media agency, OMD, we are continuously optimizing the campaign to have the most effective results. In the future, we’d like to expand the current format to include RSS feeds, which would enable our customers to get the latest information about events on our website through the gadget from anywhere on the Internet.”

The gadget, that Vodafone is introducing along with its current campaign for the new Vodafone Loaded cards, is in the form of a pre-paid card calculator, which analyzes for the customer exactly how many minutes and messages they would have had with a Vodafone Loaded card, which combines the freedom and anonymity of pre-paid cards with the attractive calling and SMS prices of a tariff.

Gadget:

  • Interactive mini-application placed in the space of a traditional banner ad.
  • The majority pull content and services from external websites so that a customer’s Internet needs can be taken care of in one place, without having to search through various sites.

Google AdSense for content:

  • A network of advertising space that is relevant to the content on the page.
  • The advertiser pays per click.
  • Users see ads which are relevant to the content they are looking at.
