Vodafone innovates with a store with mobile content
Vodafone reacts to the boom in smart phones and new applications with its own concept of trade in mobile content. The older form of the server, Vodafone live! is being replaced, from the 1st of September, with a new beta version of Vodafone Gallery, which will allow owners of phones with operating systems, but also some selected models without an operating system to download electronic books, mobile applications, games, music, pictures, wallpapers and videos directly to their phones. The data transferred during browsing and content download from the store will not be charged. "Based on discussions with our customers, we have a new mobile content portal designed as an exclusive boutique in which the customer finds only recommended and secure content that they can then immediately download and pay for via a premium SMS," says Petr Říčánek, Product Manager at Vodafone, and adds: "We carefully go through the contents of the largest publishers, servers, applications and music, and we select for our customers those that are most important." While the previous version of the mobile content store, Vodafone live! focused primarily on wallpapers, music and mobile games, Vodafone Gallery reflects current trends and focuses on applications, electronic books and music.
