Vodafone expands its sales network to Czech railway stations
Vodafone has begun to work with Czech Railways on the sale of its prepaid cards. They are now available through a pilot program in 80 Czech Railways stations in the South and East of the Czech Republic. During the course of the year, Vodafone wants to further expand the availability of prepaid cards at Czech Railways ticket counters. Currently, Vodafone products and services are available at more than 4500 sales points. “For the pilot phase, we chose Czech railway stations that were frequented by tens of thousands of tourists over the course of the summer,” says Martin Pejša, who is responsible for partner sales and adds: “Currently, Vodafone products and services are purchased via partner sites by more than a third of our customers.

In two years, that number should be more than forty percent.”
As both credit and debit cards are accepted at Czech Railways counters, prepaid cards can be purchased with them.
“The prepaid cards from Vodafone are part of our effort to offer our customers the products they are interested in. Telephone contact with friends and family while traveling by train, on an excursion for example, falls naturally into that category,” says Andrea Hofmanová, Director of the group of Czech Railways stores.
Vodafone partner sites where prepaid cards may be purchased:
- Czech Railways
- Czech Post
- Chain stores (Tesco, Globus, Electro World, Interspar, Tipsport, Josef KVAPIL)
- Petrol stations (OMV, Benzina, Shell)
- Distributors (3A.CZ, ISC Communication Czech, SETOS, GECO TABAK, AGORA DMT)
After purchasing the prepaid card, the customer decides whether to activate it as a Vodafone ‘Wild’ card or as a Vodafone ‘Loaded’ card. The main advantage of a Vodafone Loaded card is that the customer pays the same prices for calling and SMS as a Vodafone tariff customer, but does not have to pay the monthly flat rate. The more the customer loads their phone with credit, the cheaper they call.
