Vodafone dedicates advertising space to the nonprofit sector

16. March 2009

Vodafone, as the first operator to do so in the Czech Republic, enables nonprofit organizations to advertise their donation SMS (DMS) campaigns on Vodafone recharge coupons. The DMS campaigns that win the tender will be able to use all of the advertising space available on Vodafone recharge coupons for an entire year. More than one million Vodafone customers use these coupons to recharge their phones every year. “As a responsible company, Vodafone decided to dedicate one entire communications channel to benefit the nonprofit sector and help philanthropic projects raise money,” says Přemysl Filip, Senior Manager for Corporate Responsibility at Vodafone Czech Republic and adds: “In this way, we hope to naturally connect our business with the needs of the community in which we operate.” DMS, or donation SMS, has been a safe and convenient way to donate to charitable causes for five years already.

DMS, or donation SMS, has been a safe and convenient way to donate to charitable causes for five years already. The value of a single DMS is CZK 30 and the entire system is operated by the Czech Donors Forum nonprofit organization. Since its inception, the DMS service has helped to collect over CZK 200 million.

“Donation SMS (DMS) have, during the five years of their existence, brought much needed funds to non profit project and they have as well made people used to donate. Two thirds of users value on DMS above all their simplicity and transparency. Communication is crucial for the success of DMS collections and advertising space on coupons is a perfect and potentially very effective communication channel,” says Pavlína Kalousová, Executive Director of the Czech Donors Forum.
