Vodafone covers half the population with 3G and gives data for free on the weekend

06. June 2011

Starting today, Vodafone's high-speed Internet is available to half of the inhabitants of the Czech Republic. By late summer, Vodafone will cover more than 130 other towns and villages, bringing the number of cities with 3G to 370 and the total coverage will rise to 60% of the population. Strengthening its leadership among the GSM operators in covering the republic with fast mobile Internet, Vodafone will celebrate this with a weekend gift for all customers. "We want to celebrate this important milestone in fast mobile internet coverage with our customers, so they will have free data plans during the weekend of the 11th and 12th of June," says Vice President of Technology at Vodafone, Pavel Kos. On the weekend of the 11th and 12th of June, Vodafone customers will also enjoy the 'Internet on your mobile phone for a day' and 'Connect for two days' tariffs for free.

On the weekend of the 11th and 12th of June, Vodafone customers will also enjoy the 'Internet on your mobile phone for a day' and 'Connect for two days' tariffs for free. The operator will reset the FUP data limit for customers with a monthly connection prior to this weekend.

Now Vodafone introduces 3G technology with particular focus on county seats and smaller cities in all regions of the country. Where Vodafone launches new 3G, customers can activate the connection at a fifty percent discount for the first three months and can receive the modem for a subsidized price of 77 crowns.

Vodafone uses the very latest HSPA (High Speed Packet Access) from Huawei to operate its 3G network.

In addition to the 3G network, customers can use Vodafone's mobile data connectivity over MobilKom's CDMA network, covering 75 percent of the population, and its 2G network - EDGE, which is available to 95 percent of the population of the Czech Republic.
