26. January 2009

The University of Pittsburgh selected Vodafone Czech Republic to conduct a case study, the objective of which is to examine the influence of a firm’s social responsibility on its profitability. Vodafone was chosen because of its long-term commitments in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility and its unique corporate culture. Vodafone is thus the only telecommunications company in the Central and Eastern European (CEE) region, in which the University of Pittsburgh is conducting is case study, entitled “The Business of Humanity”. “Vodafone is an example of a successful company that, through its strategy, provides its customers with unique value and, at the same time, places a great deal of emphasis on social responsibility. Therefore, for us it is the ideal partner for conducting the ‘Business of Humanity’ case study,” said the author of the study, Professor John C.

The university will use this case study for study purposes in its Master of Business Administration (MBA) programs and, at the same time, it will make it accessible through its web pages to anyone in the world who is interested.

The University of Pittsburgh has a presence in Pittsburgh, Săo Paulo, Prague, and is planning to expand to India. In the Czech Republic the university has an exclusive partnership with the Czech-based U.S. Business School Prague. Together, in addition to its highly-rated Executive MBA program, it offers corporate education programs for middle and upper management, their main assets being high-quality instruction and an elite selection of professors from the University of Pittsburgh’s Katz Business School and other renowned global universities.
