The Vodafone Foundation has distributed five million crowns among youth projects

A total of 5 million crowns was distributed by the Vodafone Foundation as part of the sixth round of the grant program, Vpohybu, among nonprofit groups and other projects led by young people under 30. Candidates apply through to the end of June. During its five-year existence the Vodafone Foundation has distributed more than 80 million among the non-profit projects throughout the Republic. "With the grant program, Vpohybu, we want to encourage the independent initiative of young people and the communities in which they live. The program aims to help young people develop social responsibility and creativity," says Ondřej Zapletal, Director of the Vodafone Foundation.

Groups of young people aged up to 26 years or nonprofit organizations under the management involving people under 30 years old. The main objective of the program is to involve young people in community development, encourage creativity and communication and organizational skills. They developed projects to focus on some of the needs of local communities and address their problems.

Basic Information concerning Vpohybu 2011

  • the amount of CZK 5,000,000 will be divided among the applicants in 2011
  • neither a minimum nor a maximum grant amount is set
  • Financing provided up to 100% of project costs
  • time of execution - from single-day events to up to 12 months and in exceptional cases, 24 months

Applicants for Vpohybu grants may submit an application, including attachments, such as annual reports or recommendations from sponsoring nonprofit organizations by June 30, via e-mail and by mail or in person to the Vodafone registry in Prague.

In previous years, thanks to the Vpohybu program, a series of new local music and cultural festivals such as Rock for young people in High Toll, the Open Air Fest in Žatec, the juggling festival in Prague or the Tancesse Dance Festival in Brno. And with the support of the Vodafone Foundation, a number of exhibitions, sporting events for youth and the handicapped as well as creating conditions for long-term facilities or activities were held. Those include building a gazebo for meetings of young people in the Vojničkách Park in Louny or the creation of an exhibition space for young artists in the University Student Theatre in Český Budějovice.
