This year the Oskar’s Jezisek will make a stop in Prague , too. At 5:00 pm on Sunday, December 5th, the Oskar Skating Rink will have its gala opening on Ovocný trh in Prague . It will be possible to skate until 10:00 pm for a total of 28 days, until January 2nd 2005. Admission to the rink is free of charge for all visitors.

The ice surface will measure 30 x 14 meters. Admission will be free, and there will be dancing there every day: from 6:00 to 10:00 pm a DJ will run a discotheque. There will also be various competitions on the ice. Oskar is also offering rental skates, available right beside the rink. Rental skates will be free of charge for Oskar customers, while others will pay CZK 30 to rent a pair. Even though a warm, snowless winter is predicted, this will not affect the Oskar rink. Thanks to the multi-layered ice technology, the surface should be intact at temperatures of up to 15 °C.

The skating rink will also be a source of entertainment and fun for people who don't skate. You can watch the goings-on on the ice via a Web camera at www.jakvypadasjezisek.cz. And Oskar wouldn't be Oskar if it didn't come up with something more. Besides on the Web site, you can follow what's going on on the rink live, on your mobile phone, thanks to Video Stream technology. You will find more details, broadcasts from Web cameras, instructions for setting up your handset for live broadcasts, and much more at www.oskar.cz.

The opening of the skating rink will also be entertaining. The emcees will be Aleš Háma. There will also be a children's ice show, an appearance by St. Nick and the Devil, and, of course, a dance party. As experiences in years past have indicated, a skating rink is a place to relax and become inspired during the hectic Christmas runup and a paradise of joy for all young visitors. The skating rink also has stands where parents can rest and still keep an eye on their offspring.

"I sincerely invite all skaters, young and old, to visit the Oskar Skating Rink, whether you just want to clear your head in the fresh air, find inspiration for buying more Christmas presents, or just enjoy the Christmas atmosphere in the center of Prague," says Igor Přerovský, Oskar's Vice President for Brand and Communications. As in past years, revenues from skate rentals will go for charitable purposes. In 2002 8,200 people skated on the Oskar rink over the course of 33 days, and last year smiles were brought to the faces of over 13,520 skaters.

Oskar Skate Ring will be open also in the center of Ostrava on Jiraskovo namesti under the same conditions. The official opening happens on Saturday, December 4th at 5 pm.
