OSKAR COVERAGE EXCEEDS CTU’S REQUIREMENTS
After conducting stringent tests of Oskar’s network the Czech Telecommunication Authority (CTU) confirmed today that 88,01 percent of the population was covered as of June 30th, 2000, exceeding by 6 per cent terms outlined in the license agreement. The CTU also confirmed that 99, 6 percent of E50 and E55 roads and 99,12 percent of all other E roads were covered. “Oskar in partnership with our network build out partners, Ericsson and Siemens has accomplished all coverage conditions required by the CTU. We will continue to meet all requirements by year end,” said Jon Eddy, Chief Technical Officer at Oskar. Cesky Mobil became the third mobile network operator in the Czech Republic after being granted a GSM 900 / 1800 dual band license by the Czech government in October 1999 and launched commercial operations on March 1, 2000 under the brand name Oskar.

As of August 2nd there were 100.000 Oskar subscribers.
