Muriel Anton to replace Grahame Maher as Vodafone CZ’s new CEO

Muriel Anton, Vodafone CZ Vice President for Finance, will become the new CEO of Vodafone Czech Republic with effect from 1st June 2008 and thus replace the current CEO, Grahame Maher, who is to take up the position of the founding CEO of Vodafone Qatar. The position of Chief Finance Officer will be filled on an interim basis by Patricia Haws, Vodafone CZ Finance Director. "I am delighted that Muriel has been appointed as my successor, which is a well deserved promotion and I am confident Vodafone CZ will continue to perform very well under her leadership," said Maher. Muriel Anton joined Vodafone (then Oskar) as Vice President for Finance in 2000. As a member of the Company 's top management team she was influential in the launch of the third mobile operator in the Czech market, its rise as one of the fastest growing third operators in Europe as well as its successful sale to Vodafone Group.

Prior to joining Oskar/Vodafone Muriel held various directorial positions in financial planning and analysis in a leading Canadian telecommunications companies namely, TELUS Corporation.

Grahame Maher became Vodafone CZ CEO in February 2006. After the successful integration of Vodafone CZ into Vodafone Group, the company launched, under his leadership, a couple of groundbreaking, customer oriented, solutions such as free ad-sponsored services and the first truly converged business solution, Vodafone OneNet. Grahame significantly supported the launch of the Vodafone Foundation and other Corporate Responsibility programs. Vodafone CZ customers are repeatedly ranked as the most satisfied mobile operators customers on Czech market.

For continuity, Maher will continue as Chairman in Vodafone CZ till the year end to provide continued guidance and support during this time of transition.

In Qatar, Grahame Maher will lead Vodafone Group’s first green field mobile start up for several years. Grahame will build on his previous extensive experience in CEO positions in the Czech Republic, Sweden, Australia and New Zealand. Vodafone Qatar will launch its services in the latter part of 2008.
