Czechs create the world’s biggest key collection, Vodafone gives them a day of free SMS for it

People throughout the Czech Republic managed to create the world’s biggest key collection within 14 days. In return, Vodafone is letting them send free SMS messages in its network all day long on November 17. Interest in the key collection continues to grow; therefore, Vodafone is extending it to the end of November. It will then use all the keys to create the world’s biggest key structure.

“In two weeks we succeeded in collecting more than twenty thousand keys and thus create the world’s biggest key collection. We received keys from throughout the country; the highest quantity, however, was sent by people from the Mladá Boleslava region, who sent over five thousand keys,” stated Monika Čížková, Vice-President for Brand and Communication, Vodafone, adding, “We will very gladly keep our promise and reward all of our customers with free SMS messages in our network on November 17.”

Customers will be able to send free SMS messages within the Vodafone network, that is, between Vodafone numbers, for 24 hours on November 17, from midnight to midnight.

People can drop off their unneeded keys at any of 65 Vodafone brand stores, and alternative collection points, until the end of November. All the collected keys will be used to make a sculpture with the working name “The Key Matter”. More information about this piece of artwork will be published in November.

Vodafone employees have also contributed to the collection of keys, which Vodafone started on October 30, 2009.
