01. June 2010

“We tried to raise money in a creative and entertaining way and at the same time get to know the donors more personally. Aside from people from Vodafone, our business partners, family members and friends also got involved. The Vodafone Czech Republic Foundation greatly helped us reach our target amount,” said Marek Šoltys, Director of Business Development at Vodafone.

“We decided to double the amount for the Redbikes team. We’re glad that we can present a symbolic check today for over 250 thousand crowns that will help other handicapped athletes join the Redbikes team. We will continue with our long-term plan to promote the principle of self-realization and the tearing down of barriers which bar the self-realization of motivated people,” said Inga Kaškelyte, Director of the Vodafone Foundation Czech Republic.

The Redbikes project came out of a Vodafone Czech Republic employee initiative. As part of the Global Biking Initiative event, they chose to support groups of handicapped athletes with seriously restricted movement who need specially modified bikes, so-called ‘handbikes’, and together established Redbikes. You can find out more inofmation about Redbikes at www.redbikes.eu and about Global Biking Initiative at http://www.gbi-ev.de.

The Vodafone Czech Republic Foundation was established in 2006 and is financed by the Vodafone Group and Vodafone Czech Republic. The Vodafone Czech Republic Foundation ranks among the top 5 corporate foundations in the Czech Republic as ranked by the amount of distributed funds. In the time since its inception, it has distributed more than 50 million Czech crowns among more than 300 projects.
