SMS Email


What is SMS Email?

Vodafone SMS Email enables users to send emails in the form of text messages from a mobile phone to an internet email address, and to receive emails from the internet in the form of an SMS.

How much does SMS Email cost?

Information on charges for using Vodafone SMS Email can be found in the up-to-date price lists (PDF).

How does SMS Email work?

Vodafone SMS Email enables emails to be sent to mobile phones in a form of SMS - and vice versa. If you choose SMS Email, our system will create an email address for you in the following form: user_name@vodafonemail.cz. This address will enable you to send SMS to email addresses, and to receive emails (addressed to the above address) in the form of SMS. Within this service, SMS messages are sent to the number 2255 and are charged in accordance with the applicable Vodafone price list.

How can I receive emails on my mobile?

As long as the email sent to you is addressed in the correct form user_name@vodafonemail.cz, you will receive it. Emails delivered to your handset will display only the first 320 characters of the message (divided into two SMS). The maximum number of received messages per day is 100. The message will contain the email address of the sender, the first 50 characters of the subject and the text of the message.

Does Vodafone support an email address in the form of a telephone number, i.e. +420xxxxxxxxx?

An email address in the form of a telephone number is not available in the Vodafone network. If you want to use SMS Email, you must register an email address in Internet Self Care in the following form: user_name@vodafonemail.cz.

Why can’t my SMS Email address be in the form of my telephone number?

Email addresses in the form of a telephone number are not available for security reasons. By doing this, we protect you against any misuse of your personal data, for example, against receiving of mass advertisements or SPAM.

If you have already registered your SMS Email address, you can send emails from your mobile phone in the two following ways:

  1. Via SMS. The SMS you want to send as an email must begin with the whole email address of the addressee. If your phone does not support the character @ (at), this character can be replaced by the character * (asterisk). If your phone does not support character _ (underscore), this character can be replaced by the character # (hash). The correctly typed address must be followed by a space, and then the remaining part of the SMS is available for your message. An SMS sent to email is limited to 160 characters including the address and subject of the message. SMS messages addressed to an email address are always sent to 2255.
  2. Via WAP (either Dial-up or Connect). If you have a correctly set up Mobile Email to access your internet email inbox from your mobile phone, you can send emails using WAP.

How do I receive emails?

If someone wants to send an email message to your mobile phone, they must use your SMS Email address in the following form: user_name@vodafonemail.cz. You will receive the incoming email in the form of an SMS. The message will contain the email address of the sender, the first 50 characters of the subject and the text of the message. Only the first 320 characters of the message (divided into two SMS) will be displayed. The maximum number of received messages per day is 100.

Can I, as a Vodafone Card user, use SMS Email while abroad?

Yes, you can use SMS Email with a Vodafone Card while abroad. However, its availability is subject to the same rules that apply for standard SMS. You must activate Roaming before leaving the Czech Republic. Prices are charged as for SMS services used abroad.

SIM Plus


How much will I pay for a Vodafone SIM Plus Card?

SIM Plus is free.

Can I apply for a desired number when I order the SIM Plus Card?

Yes: if a customer orders a SIM Plus Card containing Info & Entertainment, M-Payments and M-Bank, he or she can apply for a desired number.

Where can I get a SIM card that supports M-Bank?

In order to use M-Bank, you will need the SIM Plus Card. You can order it by calling our Vodafone Care at *077, via Internet Self Care or by visiting one of our shops.

I have lost (or someone has stolen) my SIM Plus Card with the M-Bank service. What should I do?

If someone has stolen or if you have lost your SIM Plus Card, you should disable it via the Internet, Voice or SMS Self Care. Of course, you can call the Vodafone Care at *077 anytime. We also recommend informing your bank about the problem, just in case. You can order a new SIM Plus Card via Vodafone Care (*077), or you can get it directly in one of our shops. A lost/stolen SIM will be replaced free of charge once per year.

On My Own


Why do I have to pay when I am calling a Vodafone Care representative?

Vodafone provides its customers with several options. You can decide to leave everything as it is and call the Vodafone Care free of charge. Or you can choose all the benefits provided by the On My Own service, but you will then pay for the calls made to the Vodafone Care according to the Terms & Conditions of the On My Own service. Everyone wants something else - it is up to you what you choose.

Why do I have to pay 30.26 CZK (incl. 20% VAT) when I call numbers with prefix 800? Shouldn’t this number always be free?

If you use On My Own, you have to pay for calls to the Vodafone info lines according to a price list. Of course, this does not apply to calls that are free by law. This is simply a feature of the On My Own service; however, in return, you do have other benefits, which make it worth getting. For more information, see Terms & Conditions of On My Own.

I, as an existing customer, have activated On My Own, but I did not receive the promised SIM Plus Card.

As an existing customer, you should ask for and receive a free SIM Plus Card via Vodafone Self Care, either from the internet or by calling *077.

Are there any cases when I do not have to pay for calling a representative once I have activated On My Own?

Calls to a representative within the On My Own service are charged according to an applicable price list. This does not apply to calls that must be free according to law; e.g. cancellation of permission to process personal data for marketing and commercial purposes, request to stop sending commercial messages, failure notices within the telecommunication network, or application not to be published in an address book.

I have a Power Up tariff (Junior, Write Me, Between Us, I Hear You and Agreement with Vodafone). What should I do to receive a 20% call bonus or 10% discount for payment?

In this case, we recommend changing to one of our Tailor Made Tariffs, which may have a 10% discount of monthly payments for some bundles. If you make the change, you will be satisfied!

Will it be cheaper if I activate On My Own with Loaded 2100?

By activating On My Own, you will get, apart from other things, a 20% discount on calls over and above the value of your tariff (if you have one of the Loaded tariffs). For example, if you use the Loaded 2100 tariff and you activate On My Own, you will pay CZK 2.40 per minute (incl.VAT) for calls over and above the value of your tariff.

Will it be cheaper if I activate On My Own with Full 500?

With the Full 500 tariff, you can use all the additional and optional services under the same conditions that apply to the other Full Tariffs. So, if you choose the On My Own service, you will benefit from its services: a free SIM Plus Card, free Detailed Billing in electronic form, a 20% discount for all calls after you have used all your free minutes. At the same time, you are subject to all the conditions and limitations connected with the service, e.g. charged calls to the Vodafone Care. I have activated On My Own, but I sometimes call Vodafone Care to solve problems for my parents, who have not activated this service. Will I pay to call a representative on their behalf?

If you are calling to get information about an account that does not have On My Own activated, then your call to the Vodafone Care will be free of charge.

Is the 30.26 CZK for calling a representative charged per minute?

No, this is a single rate charged per call.

I did not realise that I would no longer receive bills once I activated On My Own. How should I pay bills now?

Certainly the most comfortable way is to set up a Direct Debit because then your bank controls your payments. Or you can use the M-Payments and M-Bank services, which are contained in the menu of your SIM Plus Card.

I have no regular access to the internet now. Can I still use the On My Own service?

Yes, you can continue to use On My Own. In order to control your account, you can still use Voice or SMS Self Care. But you should know that calls to Vodafone Care (in accordance with the terms and conditions of the On My Own service) are charged. Without access to the internet, your account is less comfortably controlled and you will have no access to electronic bills. However, we will inform you on any outstanding debt and payment due dates via SMS, so the most important feature will still work.

Connect


How much is the Connect service?

Activation of the Connect service is free. For detailed and up-to-date information about the Connect tariffs, see the price list of services (PDF).

How can I decide whether the unlimited flat-rate connection to the internet via Connect Steady is good for me?

Vodafone offers the unlimited Connect Steady tariff, which would be good for you if you often connect to the internet - if you browse a lot, or send many emails, download files, pictures, etc. Connect Steady offers several price zones, so if you browse and download less, the Connect Steady tariff will recognise that, and you will save money.

What do I need to use Connect?

If you want to use Connect to browse WAP pages, you'll need a mobile phone that supports GPRS/EDGE technology. If you want to use Connect to access the internet and have transferred data displayed on another device, you will need a personal computer, laptop or palmtop and the interface unit to connect the mobile phone with the computer - you can also use a PCMCIA card. First, you should activate the Connect service, then set up the parameters of your mobile phone for data transfer and then set up the parameters of your computer's operating system. If you activate the Connect service, it is useful to increase your Call Deposit. Vodafone prepaid Card users needs for activation of connection to have credit of at least the value of this service.

Is there any special number I should use to access the internet via Connect?

No, standard access numbers are used for Connect; you only need to enter a special service code. This code is identical for most phones: * 99***1#. However, it does depend on your type of phone. This code must be saved in the programme you use on your computer to connect to the internet. Starting the programme launches the connection.

Does Vodafone guarantee any minimum transmission speed for Connect?

No, we do not guarantee the Connect speed. The maximum theoretical speed for Connect via EDGE technology is 236.8/118.4 Kb/s for downlink and uplink.

Where can I use EDGE?

EDGE – As of 2007, we have had EDGE coverage in 37 towns and another 113 spots all over the Czech Republic. Thanks to it, the unbelievable three-and-a-half million people can connect to the internet from their homes.

3G – Latest coverage: Brno and Prague are 100 % covered. By the 1st of April, 2011, we will have all the regional capitals, as well as another 20-30 large towns covered with the 3G signal.

Does MMS work via Connect? How is this service charged?

Yes, MMS works via Connect. However, MMS is charged per piece, i.e. per sent MMS message regardless of the size of the MMS message.

I have heard that Vodafone offers a CD containing a measuring device for data transferred via Connect. Where can I get it?

Yes, Vodafone offers a CD containing Easy Set-up to Connect on your computer. The application also contains a measure to monitor the volume of transferred data. However, this measure is not absolutely accurate. The CD can be obtained in one of our shops or sent to your address free of charge. The Vodafone Easy Set-up to Connect can be downloaded free-of-charge by clicking on download.

What do I need if I want to use EDGE?

You will need a mobile phone which supports the service or a similar one, such as GPRS. Then you need to activate one of the tariffs for Connect and set up your phone (the best way is via Easy Set-up). You can choose whether you want to use Connect to WAP and Connect to Internet, when you pay for transferred data only, or WAP via Dial-up, when you pay for the time spent in the network.

What is MMS?

The MMS service enables to send MMS from MMS phones to other MMS phones or to email, and to receive MMS from other MMS phones.

How can I set up an MMS phone?

An MMS phone can be set up by means of a smart SMS or manually.

How much is an MMS?

Each sent MMS costs CZK 4.50 (incl. 20% VAT).

Roaming


I have a Vodafone tariff – what conditions and charges apply to calling while abroad?

If you have one of our tariffs, you may call while abroad using the Vodafone Roaming service. It is subject to the applicable price list.

What should I do when I want to activate Roaming and International Calling with a Vodafone tariff?

You can activate the roaming service free of any charges, for example via the Internet, Pocket, Voice or SMS Self Care

Do I have to change the settings on my mobile phone in order to use Connect and MMS when roaming?

No. The settings of your phone will remain the same whether you are in the Czech Republic or not.

I use a Vodafone Card. How can I activate Roaming and International Calling?

If you have a Vodafone Card you can activate the roaming free of all charges. However, you must activate it before you leave the country. You can do it at the Internet Self Care, Pocket Self Care (*111*#) or Voice Self Care in the menu My Vodafone > My Services (*077). You can cancel roaming at any time in the same way. Another option is to activate it via SMS Self Care, simply send a free SMS message with ROAM WORLD A 1234 in the body of the message to 7700 (replace the code 1234 by your personal 4- to 6-digit numerical password). International Calling is automatically activated for Vodafone Card.

I use the Vodafone Card and I would like to send SMS while abroad. How much will it cost?

Call Deposit


What is a Call Deposit?

The Call Deposit is a sum of money you paid when you bought your SIM card or when you changed from a Vodafone Card to a tariff. This sum of money determines the amount of the so-called Call Limit. It is an amount you may use for calling or other services in ongoing billing period. If a customer account includes several phone numbers, call limit is for each phone number separately. The Call Deposit will be refunded if and when we have received your payments on time for three consecutive bill cycles.

How is the Call Deposit controlled?

When you have used a certain proportion (50%, 75%, 90% and then 100%) of your Call Deposit, you will receive an SMS informing you of this fact. You can check the current level of your Call Deposit via the Internet Self Care, via the SMS Self Care by sending a free SMS with VOL JIST 1234 in the body of the text message (replace 1234 with your 4- to 6-digit numerical password) to 7700 or by calling the Voice Self Care on *077.

When and how will you refund the Call Deposit?

We will refund the Call Deposit if we receive your payments in full and on time for three consecutive bill cycles. The refund options are by mail, bank transfer or in the form of a settlement for the following invoices. If you did not select a method for refunding the deposit when you bought your SIM card, you can still select a method via the Internet Self Care – Main Page > My Account > Current Account Balance or via the Voice Self Care on *077 in menu 1 – My Account, option 2 - Payments. If you do not set up a deposit refund method, we will send a cheque to your postal address.

How will you refund the Call Deposit I paid in 2009?

The Call Deposit will be refunded in full. It will not be affected by the different VAT level.

Do I have to pay the Call Deposit with all Vodafone tariffs?

Yes, you have to pay the Call Deposit with all of our tariffs – we will refund it on the basis of a six months’ good payment history.

What Call Deposit must be paid for Roaming with the Loaded 2100 tariff?

With the Loaded 2100 tariff, you don’t have to pay a Call Deposit for the Roaming service activation, the same as with other Vodafone tariffs.

What should I do if I used up my Call Deposit but I still want to use my phone?

If you reached 100% of your Call Limit and your SIM card is disabled, you can:

Why do I have to pay a higher Call Deposit when I am buying the Loaded 2100 tariff with a discounted phone?

With respect to the fact that you do not have to conclude any written contracts with Vodafone, we request higher security from our customers. However, you do not have to worry about your money! If you pay your bills on time for three consecutive bill cycles, we will be happy to refund your Call Deposit. In addition, when you purchase the Loaded 2100 tariff with a discounted phone, the price of the phone is so pleasant that any refundable deposit is absolutely worth it.

Why does Vodafone require a Call Deposit?

Vodafone requires a Call Deposit because there is no contract concluded with you. The Call Deposit enables us to monitor your payment history and optimise our utilisation of services without billing other charges.

Change of tariff


How can I change my tariff or change from a Vodafone Card to a tariff?

In order to change from a Vodafone Card to a tariff, or to change tariffs, you must contact a Vodafone Care representative by calling *077 or 800 770 077.

Will I have to pay to change my tariff?

If you want to change your tariff, the change will always be free. However, if you use an offer that requires you to stay in a selected tariff for an agreed period of time, you can change to another tariff only after expiration of this period.

How long does it take to change the tariff?

Changes from one Vodafone tariff to another is immediately. If you want to change from a Vodafone Card to a monthly tariff or if you want to migrate between tariffs, call our representative on *077.

May I change tariff using the Self Care?

Yes, if you have one of the Tailor Made Tariffs, you can change the fare to the Web self care. For other tariffs can be changed by calling a Vodafone Care representative or a Vodafone Business Care representative.

Will any unused free minutes be transferred when I change my tariff?f

No, the unused free minutes will not be transferred if you change your tariff.

Change from a Vodafone Card to tariff and vice versa


Can I change from a Vodafone Card to a tariff and how much will it cost?

You can change from a Vodafone Card to an offered tariff anytime. The change is free and you will continue to use the same SIM card and telephone number. When changing from a Vodafone Card to a tariff and number is active for less than 3 months, you must have at least 1,000 CZK credit. This sum will be transferred as your Call Deposit, which will be refunded if and when you have paid your bills on time for three consecutive bill cycles; the remaining credit will be transferred as a pre-payment for future invoices. You may ask our representative on *077 to change your Vodafone Card to a tariff.

Can I change from a tariff to a Vodafone Card and how much will it cost?

You can change from a tariff to a Vodafone Card anytime and the change will be free. However, if you use an offer that requires staying in a selected tariff for an agreed period of time, you can change to another tariff only after expiration of this period. You may ask our representative on *077 to make the change.

May I change from a tariff to a Vodafone Card immediately?

Yes, you can change from a tariff to a Vodafone Card immediately. The Change will be confirmed by SMS.

Don’t be blinkered!

Have you got one of those pretty things that flashes and blinks when you get an incoming call? They look great - but did you know they are illegal to use with your mobile phone? Although Vodafone never offered them in the stores, we wanted to warn you that using them breaches the Czech law on electronic communications because you could interfere with the transmissions over the wireless network. We know they look kind of cool, but if you’ve got one you’d better take it off.

What is this blinker?

A blinker is a sticker or detachable antenna that you can put on a mobile phone. You can buy them at mobile phone accessory shops, at kiosks or via the internet.

Why can’t I use a blinker with my mobile phone?

This is illegal because a blinking antenna or sticker can interfere with wireless transmissions when you make calls. If you use a blinker you breach § 100 article 1 of law Nr. 127/2005 of the Czech law, on electronic communication. In accordance with this law, mobile phone users are not allowed to interfere with transmissions over the wireless network in this way. For more information, go to: www.ctu.cz.

Friends


Shall I pay an activation fee for the Friends?

No way, the activation is free of charge.

Can I activate the Friends myself via the Voice Self Care or the Internet Self Care?

You can definitely activate the Friends Program yourself. Nevertheless, the only way of doing it is to use the Internet Self Care, where you can set it up in the prearranged table. The Voice Self Care does not enable this setup. Other options include the customer line or a visit to any of our shops.

Does a chosen number have to be a tariff number or may I set up just any number within the Vodafone network?

The number chosen must be from within the Vodafone network, but your friend can have any of our programs, whether prepaid or a tariff plan.

May I also use the service with Write Me and Agreement with Vodafone tariffs?

Unfortunately, this is not possible. This is a new service and it can only be activated with our latest Loaded Tariffs, Full Tariffs. However, all the other tariffs can be among the set numbers.

May I also make free calls to my friends when I am abroad on holiday?

We are sorry but this is not possible. It is important that you call them from the Czech Republic. However, your friends can be just anywhere, even on the other side of the globe.

May I also send free MMS to my friends?

The Friends only applies to calling and SMS, so you still have to pay for your MMS.

How often and by what rules am I allowed to change my numbers in the Friends group?

You are allowed to make 4 changes of the number of Friends (selected numbers) per month/bill cycle (adding/removing 1 number means 1 change).

Am I charged for the service cancellation?

No. you are not. The service deactivation is completely free of charge. The service will remain active until the end of one monthly cycle.

Will the service remain active even after a tariff change?

Yes, the service remains active for as long as you continue to be in a group of tariffs, which enable you to activate the Friends.

Shall I receive a confirmatory SMS on a change I have made within the Friends Program service?

Yes, we will inform you on the acceptation of your request for a change via an SMS.

How many numbers may I set up in my group? And does the amount of numbers I have entered make any difference in relation to the fee?

During one bill cycle, you can change number of your Friends 4 times as a maximum. The changes are valid immediately and you will receive confirmation SMS.

Disabling a SIM card and a phone


Disabling a SIM card and a mobile phone

Has your mobile phone been stolen? Or have you lost it? If we are to give you advice, you should disable the lost/stolen SIM card as soon as possible so that no one can misuse it. Now you can inform the police and, at the same time, have the stolen mobile phone disabled for usage in all networks in the Czech Republic.

How to disable a SIM card?

If you disable your SIM card, no one can misuse it. Of course, we will not cancel your telephone number. You can order a new SIM card with the same telephone number by contacting the Vodafone Care (*077; *007 for corporate customers), or by visiting one of our shops. In addition, as a customer of Vodafone, you can have a new SIM card with the same number every year free of charge. You should not put it off – if you are a postpaid customer, your monthly tariff plan will continue even though you have disabled your SIM card!

How to disable a mobile phone?

Do you want to make it difficult for the thieves? If your mobile phone has been stolen, you should disable not only the SIM card but also the phone to make it useless for the thieves. You can have it disabled at the nearest Czech Police station. The only thing you need is the original copy of a proof of purchase (invoice or a guarantee certificate, which show the phone’s IMEI). The Police will then issue an order for all mobile operators in the Czech Republic to disable the usage of this phone in their networks (pursuant to Section 75 of Act no. 127/2005 Coll.). For thieves, the phone will become useless.
