People

We want to contribute to the welfare of the society we live in and to the happiness of people’s lives, including those of the employees of Vodafone CZ.

The needs of our employees are individual and that’s how we approach them. Apart from a broad range of benefits and employee development programs, we celebrate “Moments of Truth” that mark important milestones in the lives of our colleagues (graduation, marriage, birth of child, etc.). Furthermore, together with the Vodafone Czech Republic Foundation we offer our employees the opportunity to spend a day volunteering in non-profit organizations. An example has already been set by our leadership team which got its hands “dirty” helping out in the Animal Rescue Centre Pasíčka.

Another thing we try to do is to inform the public about certain aspects of ‘mobile’ phone usage they may not be aware of, or which they even choose to ignore. To do this we publish articles in our customer magazine CiliChili, for example „Mobiles and Driving“ (safe driving), „Mobiles and Considerateness" (in public, in hospitals, in mass transportation, etc.) or „Have Your Mobile Under Control“ (protection against spam, viruses). We certainly wish to continue in these efforts.

Further more, we try to help people in need and provide them with our services. All Vodafone CZ customers who find themselves in emergency and cannot call out or send SMS because their phones are blocked due to lack of credit etc. can now use a free SOS SMS. The Beneficial Tariff is another example. This tariff is designed especially for people on low incomes, with special needs or for the physically handicapped. All they have to do is to provide the requested documents, which entitles them to up to a CZK 200 discount on their monthly flat rate.

There are also some global initiatives we take part in. One of them is Mobility Week, an international programme that takes place in almost 2000 European cities, as well as in Canada. Its chief aim is to motivate people to opt for more ecological modes of transport than the cars they use, such as public transport, bicycles or their own legs. The theme of this year’s Mobility Week is “CLEAN AIR FOR ALL” and Vodafone chose to support this program. In the week of 16th – 22th September we offer the contents of the Traffic Schedules category on Vodafone live! free of charge; furthermore, new and existing customers receive for each purchase a ticket for public transportation. Perhaps it is worth mentioning that the Czech Republic is the third most active country in this program, superseded only by Austria and France.

And last but not least, since 2006 our Corporate Responsibility Manager has been involved in the program Manager’s Shadowing, organized by The Business Leaders Forem . The aim of this program is to contribute to the development of university students in their final year and allow them to familiarize themselves with the work of business managers. For a period of a few days they are encouraged to “shadow” managers at work and learn about decision-making, employee development and work management, as well as about leading business meetings or the functioning of a company.
